Courtney M. Butler |

Courtney Butler has been with the Center for Science, Mathematics & Technology Education since November 1996. Her primary interests are in the areas of inquiry science education, student scientific research, and the integration of mathematics and science. In the area of inquiry science, she has most recently provided workshops to several regional science fairs around the state on how to integrate inquiry science into the classroom and tie that to having students conduct scientific research project for science fairs. Her goal is to eventually create a Student Scientific Research Support Center for the state of Colorado that will aid teachers in creating classroom instruction that fosters student led experimental research projects. Ms. Butler is also the Director of the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair, the state level competition for students in grades 6 - 12. The CSEF is held at Colorado State University each spring. She is also serving a three year term on the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair Advisory Council. Ms. Butler received her BS in mathematics education from CSU and holds a current Colorado teaching lisence. Her educational interests include integrated mathematics, fractals and chaos theory, and small-scale science. Prior to joining CSMATE, Ms. Butler was a math/science instructor at an alternative high school in Sterling, Colorado. She is still interested in quality teaching and aids in many of the professional development courses CSMATE offers. On a personal
